WARNING - Maintain proper torque on lug nuts or wheel bolts. Failure to do so may result in serious injury or property damage.
- After dismounting the old wheel, remove all dirt, rust, grease, and oil from the stud threads. Do not lubricate the threads.
- Position the wheel on the trailer. Inspect to ensure full contact between the wheel's mounting surface (seat pads) and the hub or brake drum's mounting surface.
- Start wheel nuts on studs
- Finger tighten the top nut, rotate the wheel so the number 2 nut is at the top, and continue finger tightening. Finger tighten the remaining nuts in numerical (crisscross) order; always tighten nuts in the top position.
- Repeat Step 4, rotating wheel and finger tightening until all nuts are snug.
- Tighten nuts in the same fashion as described in Steps 4 and 5. Nuts should be torqued to the specifications detailed below or in the attachment below. Retorque nuts to the same specifications after 50 miles of driving and periodically thereafter.
- After wheels (with tires) have been mounted, visually inspect to ensure noninterference with the body or other component parts. Be sure to inspect wheels in all possible positions (extreme turns, etc)
NOTE: Check the fit of your lug wrench; an oversized wrench results in mutilated lug nuts.
